The Tantric Curse – Book Review
Book review – The Tantric Curse.
Anupama Garg has successfully explored an unusual way to explain a difficult and misconstrued subject bringing to light many facets of Tantra. We finally have a practitioner who has explained the intriguing subject of Tantra in an exceedingly fascinating story line.
Rhea, Krishnam and Satya all are very strong and inspiring characters. The book through its characters is able to explain a profound spiritual journey with ease in today’s time. Life of Rhea brings into light her growth as an individual, who is faced with situations where her faith sees her through the depths. The reader goes through the challenges that she faces and overcomes while walking the path, which is the prerogative of a handful of males. The only option she has is to exalt to a point where she is unchallenged, or perish, thereby ending with her the understanding of Tantra Shastra.
Her unusual gifts multiplied by the sadhana could lead to an arrogance that defeats the entire purpose of sadhana. Her guru Satya lets her go through pain and discipline which is mandatory to understand the responsibility of possessing powers inconceivable to an ordinary mind and to carry on the lineage. Krishnam, the biological son of her guru, a celebrity lawyer shows her the door to sensual pleasures. The love of Krishnam and Rhea creates a high standard for the fast paced life of today, nevertheless reinstating the fact that love and sexuality are sacred in the field of Tantra.
We loved the fact that the author highlighted the darker aspect of Tantra through Bhairava and emphasised the fact that the use of any power depends on the wisdom of the user. We enjoyed Rhea’s sessions which introduce the interested readers to some great meditations, understanding of Chakra’s, kundalini in a practical way. The examples of science used to explain some facts show that the subject is well understood beyond the theoretical readings by the author. Rhea’s life in London with Dr Vishnukant is an insight into the truth where most of us need to modify our lifestyles and thoughts. We greatly enjoyed the numerous one liners on life all through the book.
Continuous surprises take the reader unawares, Bhairava’s revenge, Krishnam leaving Shaktidham, unfolding of the curse, all is very well timed leaving the reader wondering till the last. In a nutshell the book makes great read with a clear statement on Tantra and gives the reader many valuable insights on life, love, relationships, meditations and health. “The Tantric Curse” is a remarkable approach to highlight the principles of Tantra. It is an inspirational handbook of life, Tantra being explained through the life of Tantrics, an intense and passionate love story all in one. A riveting read with significant takeaways, a must read.
